Dragon Age Origins: Character Creator Release; Social Site Opening

Greetings folks, just a quick news tidbit – the Character Creator has been officially released (on )! This program will allow you to play around with character creation options for the game, and even save the character for use in the game when it releases.

On another note, the website is temporarily offline, I am thinking this means the imminent release of the Social Site which was also scheduled for ‘release’ today. Lots of good stuff form today! The only thing I am unsure of is the purported Flash based DA:O game that is supposed to coincide with the other 2 launches, more on that when I get some information.

Almost time to Create…

…and Destroy Life in Well, as soon as the bloody download finishes on this laptop. Got a finicky connection here in the Barracks that goes from ok strength (still not that good, 300kb or so DL) to jack for strength (200b [yes, bytes]) in see saw motions. Thats what ya get for not only being in a barracks with a bunch of other people, but being on a base who has a contract with Comcast.

As soon as I can get in the game and get some impressions I will update and let y’all see what I am up to. I hope that some of you out there fell for the temptation too!

Are you ready for SPORE?

Yeah thats right, I am asking if you are ready for What is SPORE? Well, its an innovative (I use that term to the full meaning) new game by that allows you to create.. well.. life from cells on up. You have full control over your creatures appearance and (eventually) civilization type.

SPORE is set to go ‘Live’ tomorrow, , meaning you really really need to get on the ball folks!. From the previews already out there, the game is going to do some very interesting things for the Sim game category – that has to be expected as it is a creation of … the creators of the acclaimed (and addictive) series.

I have to admit, with a slight bit of guilt, that I am already on the pre-order bandwagon. has a bundle deal going on right now where you (well.. $5.00 less than buying them separately, which basically reduces the price of the Creature Creator to 4.99).. if you don’t want to jump on the bandwagon right away, you can from EA’s website.

Count down the hours folks.. in just a little bit you will be able to conquer the galaxy with a race that comes directly from the dark recesses of your mind… However weird or ghastly that may be :) .

Want to see some SPORE creations? Head over to the .

Here are 2 of my crazy creations in the Creature Creator:

My niftiest creation (in my eyes):

Get Command & Conquer: Red Alert for Free!

Thats right, to celebrate the 13th anniversary of the acclaimed release, . OF course, this is another way to plug their upcoming game Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 (which, if you you can get Red Alert 2 for free).

So come on Command & Conquer fans – if you have lost your discs or don’t own the game but like the series, !

Disclaimer: The only reason I am posting this is because I am a Command & Conquer fan from the beginning, I am not paid by EA or any other company to post… so there!

Gametap Losing Titles, Lack of Communication, Community Fluster

All is not rosy in the world of GameTap; Some players recently found out that many titles from EA Games and Interplay will be leaving the service come December 11th. Now, normally this wouldn’t cause much of a stir… as long as some communication was provided. The problem is, that the user found out by just browsing games in his library – he actually paid attention to the info cards and was shocked to see that quite a few games were going to go bye bye come Dec. 11th – no announcement by GameTap preceded this discovery, and the post on the forums was met only with speculation and ‘marketing talk’ by Moderators and a few GameTap staff as well.

GameTap saying goodbye

This smacks of just plain bad communication and Customer Service.. I mean a ton of games (many childrens games included.. in fact a large chunk of the childrens games category) are just going bye bye, and this not long after GameTap made a huge fuss over its 1,000th game. Sure, it might be that GameTap was caught unawares…. or at least the GameTap members that work with the community [Contract negotiations rarely just flop overnight, this has been going on for a while most likely]. Speculation ranges from the companies wanting more money and not being given it, to the companies wanting to expand profits by limiting themselves to.. well.. profitable systems [Lets be honest, the meager money they get back from GameTap subscriptions is outstripped by selling the games via download and whatnot]. Heck, some companies may have just given up (Atari anyone?). This sort of thing needs to be dealt with up front and honestly, this sort of crap where the customer finds out by chance is just not the way to go.

In all about 7-10% of the GameTap library will be leaving the system come December 11th; Some GT Staff have said that there is always the possibility they will come back.. but come on. It is understood (by people with half a brain) that contracts expire and have to be renegotiated.. what isn’t understood is the complete lack of giving a damn about the customer; Come on GameTap.. return some of the dedication your fans have shown you and keep them in the bloody loop will ya? I was a GameTap subscriber since right after launch, I only stopped due to personal reasons but would have continued on otherwise – the lack of communication stings worse than the loss of the games and would seriously make me reconsider paying money to a company that doesn’t keep its customers up to date. Its not like anyone is asking for trade secrets or negotiation details.. just let us know when things go south like this! Don’t make us find out for our selves!

To date, no official word has come down the pipe from GameTap.
