Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria Launch Date Announced

The Lord of the Rings Online update, Mines of Moria, has had its official launch date released: On November 18th Middle Earth Explorers can crack the gates on Moria and enter a whole new realm. Wow, that sounds like marketing speech eh? Well it is and it isn’t. It is in that I want people to play the game, and isn’t in that I don’t see a red cent for any of my pro (or anti) game posts 🙂

Currently you can pre-order / Digitally Upgrade [to] Mines of Moria for prices ranging from $29.99 to $79.99.

Here is the official announcement:

Mac and Linux operating systems both run on PC hardware. Dumbasses.

That sounds pretty cool. I might actually order it. –Free Online Games

I am sure that everyone understands what Patience meant in that post, that the game will only be available on Windows systems – following the line that the main game is only available on Windows.

Also, while Linux is technically PC – Mac is still a Mac, sure they run on Intel based hardware now but Macs are still the only Hardware set that can run the Mac OS.

As a side note to other readers, there is a project out there on Wine APP DB that simulates the launcher for LOTRO – since the launcher is what requiers .NET (and thus makes the game not runnable on most Linux based systems), using the launcher script(s) available on the net will allow the game to run on Linux. Due to graphics drivers issues on most linux distributions there is still a graphics penalty to play, but the fan base (who are into Linux) have been working hard at it.
